A New Project (I Know, Like You Don't Have Enough To Do!)
In this world, everyone already has enough to do, and certainly don't need to be scheduling any more "projects" for themselves, but this one should be fun if you do it right! Take an afternoon, preferably a quiet one, that you can sneak away and take a couple of hours all to yourself. This is hard for people with children (or siblings living in the same house), but it is still possible.
Create your own Top 100 songs! Start a playlist in your media player and keep adding songs to it. Just your favorites, and the songs you don't mind belting out while driving, working out, or in the shower. Remember to take a walk down "memory lane" while you are creating this list. Listen to each song you consider, and make sure it is "worthy" of a place of honor in your Top 100.
Bring all of your old music CD's out and into the light. Come on, if you are anywhere over the age of 15, you have CD's. The iPod wasn't even out until a few years ago, so I would be willing to wager most people that were 15 years old when it came out had a few CD's, even way back then. Make sure you have all of your CD's backed up on your computer, and you have your music files organized. I know, it sounds like a lot but if you get this step done, the rest is easy. If you are like me though, it make take DAYS to get this part done, not hours.
I have hundreds of CD's (ok, I am old, the iPod didn't come out until I was probably in my early 30ish years), and although I have some of my music transferred to my computer, I didn't undertake backing them all up until recently (yeah, like last weekend). I came across a couple of CD's that I really used to love, popped them into the player in my car, and found out they were scratched beyond recognition by my CD player. I LOVED those CD's, and now, I have to download them from iTunes... they are gone to me until I take the time to download them. How many more of my CD's are in need of replacement? I am not sure yet, but should know sooner than later.
Now the purpose of this project is to not only create your very own Top 100 list to choose from to fit any type of mood, but it serves another purpose. You take the time to be with you, in your own thoughts, in your own memories and in your "Top" frame of mind. Organizing your music is secondary, to the primary purpose of spending time with you!
